After Jaiswal masterclass, Ravichandran Ashwin sets a new record in T20s

In the 213 chase against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023 match at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, Mumbai Indians were able to maintain control with the assistance of Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green. Ishan and Green combined 62 runs for the second wicket after the hosts lost captain Rohit Sharma early before Ashwin dismissed the wicketkeeper-batter for 28(23). The wily old off-spinning wizard then dismissed Green (44 off 26) in his following over. This was Ashwin’s 300th T20 wicket.

The off-spinning assassin

The off-spinner has stayed with the pace of the game and has evolved as the game has been more in the favor of batters. Ravichandra Ashwin with his bag of tricks has kept the batters under control.

Ashwin has had a very philosophical approach to his life lately. In an interview last year, the off-spinner said, “I believe life is a circle, for some people, it’s a small one, for some it’s large For me, understanding patterns in my life and career is something I’ve done very well over the last couple of years.”

He’s surely understanding the patterns in his bowling well and has made the batters clueless with his wizardly evolution in T20 Cricket.

Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav are in charge as both of their batters are scoring runs quickly. Yashasvi Jaiswal earlier held down a steady position at one end and guided Rajasthan Royals to 212/7 in 20 overs. Before losing his wicket in the last over, he had scored 124 (62).

Jos Butler played second fiddle to Jaiswal who was on fire. Before Buttler was bowled for 18(19) in the eighth over by Piyush Chawla, the pair had added 72 runs for the first wicket. Jaiswal kept up his slaughter, hitting triple figures in 53 balls. His innings, in which he batted at a strike rate of 200, included 16 boundaries and 8 maximums.
