AB De Villiers To Lead South Africa Again?

The reports earlier suggested AB de Villiers had been offered to lead the Proteas once again. The man in question took to his social media account to reveal the true story.

The story

AB de Villiers had retired from international cricket in 2018. Some reports earlier the day suggested that he had been approached by Cricket South Africa to lead the team again. Apparently ABDV himself broke the news to the Star Sports show Cricket Connected and said, “The desire is there from my side to play for South Africa and have been asked by Cricket South Africa to lead the Proteas again.”

The report also suggested that the star player wants to ensure whether he is still good enough to be at the top. “The most important thing to me is that I have got to be in top form, and I have got to be better than the player next to me. If I feel I deserve my spot in the side, it becomes much easier for me to feel that I should be part of the playing XI.” He also added, “I have not been part of the Proteas for a while, and I feel that it’s important for myself and for other people to see that I am still good enough to be there.”

The truth revealed

Finally, the man in question took to his Twitter account to reveal a completely different story. According to his post, the claims are not true at all. Cricket South Africa did not approach the legend to lead the side again. After revealing the truth ABDV also asked his fans to stay safe.

The tweet reads, “Reports suggesting Cricket SA have asked me to lead the Proteas are just not true. It’s hard to know what to believe these days. Crazy times. Stay safe everyone.”
