It’s official: Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma got married in Italy

The most awaited event of the year has finally happened as Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have tied the knots today. The Indian skipper and the Bollywood superstar got hitched in Milan, Italy in a private ceremony.

There were several speculations about their wedding earlier and Virat being rested from the ODI series against Sri Lanka only added to that. A few reports were doing the rounds on the internet about the wedding ceremony for the last few days.

Eventually, it all became true and the glamorous couple is now officially married. Anushka Sharma announced the news herself as she took to social media to express her joy of the occasion.

She wrote, “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”

Virushka, as they are fondly referred to by fans, tied the knots in the presence of only a few close friends and family and the wedding ceremony was performed as per the typical Hindu rituals. The couple will now host a reception in New Delhi on 21st December for their relatives.

The Indian cricket team is currently involved in the series against Sri Lanka and they were away from the proceedings but Virat has ensured that his teammates and the industry friends join him in the celebration as another reception will take place in Mumbai on 26th December.

The couple will now travel to South Africa where team India will face the Proteas in the series across all formats. After spending the new year with Virat, Anushka will return to India.
